The Mage-OS Association is governed by an elected Board of Directors and overseen by an independent Business Control Committee. Our leaders represent diverse countries, stakeholder types, and decades of Magento ecosystem expertise.
Our Governance Model
Built on Transparency and Accountability
Mage-OS was founded in Warsaw, Poland in September 2022 by community leaders who signed the Open Letter for the future of Magento. We operate as a registered non-profit association with democratic principles at our core.
Democratic Elections
Board members are elected annually at the General Assembly, where every Association member has an equal vote.
Stakeholder Diversity
Our board represents agencies, extension vendors, hosting providers, and freelancers from across the globe.
Financial Transparency
Monthly financial updates, annual audits, and public reporting through the Business Control Committee.
Open Collaboration
All governance decisions are documented and shared. Weekly public meetings welcome community participation.

Officers hold specific responsibilities for Association operations and governance, elected by the board from among its members.
Vinai Kopp
PresidentChairs board meetings, represents the Association externally, and provides strategic leadership.
Vinai has been a developer for nearly 25 years. He delivered Magento training for over a decade through the official Magento U program and was awarded Magento Master three times. Today he serves as Partner, CTO, and CIO at Hyva. Known as a calm and kind leader who achieves incredible things through his following in the Magento ecosystem.

Founder and CEO of run_as_root GmbH, specializing in high-quality Magento 2, Hyva, and Shopware development. Adobe Certified Master Architect, long-time open-source contributor, creator of the Mage-OS DevDocs, and frequent speaker at industry events. Brings strategic focus on quality, community collaboration, and long-term sustainability.

TreasurerOversees financial management, budgeting, and ensures fiscal responsibility.
With over ten years of eCommerce experience, Cezary is head of Spyrosoft eCommerce. He helps businesses translate their strategic vision into eCommerce operations, viewing eCommerce as a fundamental component impacting everything from brand perception to logistics. His career goals: inspire businesses to innovate and help his team work uninterrupted.

John Prendergast
ActuaryManages risk assessment, long-term planning, and organizational sustainability.
Over 30 years of experience leading web technology businesses, delivering projects for global brands including Apple, Calvin Klein, HP, and Lidl. Co-founder and director of Aonach.com, a specialist Magento Open Source agency based in Ireland. A long-time advocate for open source power and community strength, committed to the Magento ecosystem's growth and sustainability.

Ryan Hoerr
USA
Software developer at ParadoxLabs since 2008, working extensively on payment services, subscriptions, and security. His Magento extensions process billions of dollars in transactions each year. Previously community manager for one of the internet's largest forums under Curse LLC (acquired by Amazon). Holds a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Ruggero Landolina
Italy
20 years of experience in e-commerce development, specializing in scalable and high-performance solutions on Magento 2, Laravel, and WordPress. As an e-commerce consultant, provides targeted strategies to optimize online presence and increase revenue. Actively contributes to the Mage-OS community, supporting innovation in open-source e-commerce.
Michiel Gerritsen
Netherlands
Founder of Control Alt Delete and MageDispatch.com. Over a decade of Magento experience, including projects for Mollie and PostNL, specializing in checkout flows and automated testing. Active open source contributor and frequent speaker in the Magento community.
Maciej Kalkowski
Poland
CEO and founder of Centuria (managed service provider), active in the IT industry for 20 years. Holds a PhD in computer science and is an assistant professor at AMU in Poznan. Speaker at many retail and Meet Magento conferences worldwide. Extensive experience designing IT infrastructure for large and medium-sized e-commerce, evangelizing business continuity and growth readiness.

Financial Oversight
Reviews financial statements and budget to ensure responsible stewardship of funds.
Governance Review
Ensures the Board follows proper procedures and adheres to Association bylaws.
Member Advocacy
Acts as an independent voice for members, raising concerns on their behalf.
