About Us
The Mage-OS
Association
A non-profit organization born from community action, formed to safeguard and advance the Magento ecosystem. We are merchants, developers, agencies, and advocates united by a shared mission: ensuring Magento thrives for generations to come. Together with the Magento Association, we reclaimed the Magento brand in 2024 and continue building the future of open-source ecommerce.
Our Origin
Born from an Open Letter
From Vision to Reality
In 2021, concerns about the future direction of Magento Open Source led community members to draft an Open Letter. That letter sparked a global conversation and united thousands who believed the ecosystem deserved an independent, community-owned organization to champion its interests.1,641 Signatories
The Open Letter about the future of Magento was signed by merchants, developers, agencies, and stakeholders who depend on Magento for their livelihood.
Community Action
What started as a call for transparency and collaboration evolved into a movement that established the Mage-OS Association as a permanent home for community-driven development.
A New Chapter
In 2022, the Mage-OS Association was formally incorporated, bringing the vision of the Open Letter to life and ensuring the Magento ecosystem has a voice of its own.
